The Passion
The hymn for Good Friday goes:
O Sacred Head surrounded
By crown of piercing thorn. O Bleeding Head, so wounded, Reviled and put to scorn. Our sins have marred the glory Of thy most holy Face, Yet angel hosts adore Thee, And tremble as they gaze.
Our Lord’s Face is marred,
wounded, bloodied, bruised, discolored, almost beyond recognition. The eyes of our body see a man beaten, broken and dying. But if we could see with the eyes of our soul – We would see all the angels of Heaven Adoring God Almighty Trembling at what is happening Silent before the sacrifice of God suffering Out of love for you and me. |
